The Long Kill by Linda Whiddon

With cold and deliberate aim, she squeezed the trigger. The bullet pierced the air with electrifying speed racing toward its mark. Sal turned toward the sound. the expended missal struck him in the chest propelling him backwards over the white boudoir chair.
Fragments of broken bone and blood burst from the splayed aperture in his chest and a bold crimson circle fanned outward covering the front of his white silk shirt a dark red.
Sal struggled to breathe as shock and fear registered upon his face.
Sal stared at his assailant, his eyes pleaded with her to not let him die like this.
To Sal's assassin, this was not just another mark,this was personal. This was someone that was a long kill overdue.
A payback for his abominable crime that time could never erase.
